Being sensible about it
Voice feels more personal than text, and that's exactly why the basics matter more here, not less:
- A voice verifies nothing. Age, job, city — treat all of it as unconfirmed.
- Keep the identifying details out: full name, employer, the name of your street.
- Don't move to another app because someone asks. That request is where most scams begin, and it usually arrives early.
- Report and leave rather than debate. One click, and they aren't notified.
- Omezy is 18+. If someone sounds underage, end the chat and report it.
Voice chat FAQ
Can the other person see me?
No. Voice chat is audio only and never asks for camera permission. If you want video, that's a different page and a different queue.
Is it free?
Yes. Anonymous mode has a daily allowance and a cap on how long one call runs; signing in is free and removes both, prioritises your account when matches are made, and keeps your settings for next time. There's no paid tier.
Are voice chats recorded?
No, audio isn't stored. Reports are handled from the report form and the moderation log rather than from a recording of the call.
I can't hear anything.
Three usual suspects, in order of likelihood: the browser doesn't have microphone permission, your device or browser tab is muted, or your system output is still pointed at headphones you unplugged. Reloading the page re-triggers the permission prompt.
Is the voice queue quieter than video?
Usually, yes — fewer people pick it, so matches can take a little longer off-peak. The upside is that everyone in it chose voice deliberately, which tends to show in the conversation.
Does anyone actually read my report?
Yes — reports go to human moderators with that conversation attached, and the person you reported is never told who filed it. One report on its own rarely decides anything; what it does is build the pattern that gets an account restricted or removed. Which is the whole reason it's worth the click.
I was banned and I don't know why.
Check the obvious ones first, because that's what nearly every ban is: you must be 18 or over, nothing explicit can appear on camera even briefly, and abusive language counts even when it's meant as a joke. A ban follows the account rather than the browser, so signing out won't clear it. Still think it's wrong? Use the appeal form and say what you think happened.
