Legal Inquiry
This page explains how Omezy handles legal inquiries, law enforcement requests, preservation requests, and data retention for our text chat, video chat, account, safety, reporting, and moderation features.
Policy statement: Omezy provides user data only when required by a court order or a valid written request that we can verify and legally process.
1. How to submit a legal request
Legal, law enforcement, regulator, or court requests should be sent in writing to [email protected]. Omezy reviews each request before disclosing any data and may reject, challenge, narrow, or ask for clarification when a request is incomplete, overbroad, unverifiable, or inconsistent with applicable law.
Requests should include the requesting authority, official contact information, legal basis, case or reference number, the exact data requested, the relevant user identifiers, the relevant time period, and any confidentiality or user notice requirements.
2. Emergency requests
If there is an immediate risk of death, serious physical harm, child exploitation, or another emergency, the request must clearly state the emergency facts and the specific data needed to address the risk. Omezy may disclose limited information in good faith when allowed by law and necessary to prevent serious harm.
3. Data Retention Policy
Omezy keeps operational, security, safety, and moderation data for 30 days, then deletes it automatically from active systems unless a valid legal hold, court order, active safety investigation, active account restriction, or another legal obligation requires preservation.
During that 30-day period, Omezy may store the following categories when they are created by normal service use or safety workflows:
- Account and authentication data, including email, display name, OAuth provider identifiers, session identifiers, account status, login events, and deletion request status.
- Profile and matching data, including age or birth date fields, gender where provided, interests, country or region signals, timezone, language or preference settings, and matching availability.
- Device, network, and abuse-prevention data, including IP address, user agent, cookies or local storage identifiers, rate-limit records, fingerprinting signals, bot-detection signals, challenge results, and security logs.
- Chat and video session metadata, including connection events, match events, skip or disconnect events, peer session identifiers, channel type, country signals, timestamps, and connection duration.
- Limited message or evidence data, including truncated text chat samples in operational logs, report excerpts, report reasons, moderator notes, and small video still-image snapshots submitted with a user report.
- Moderation and enforcement data, including reports, moderation queue records, reputation events, violation counters, ban or restriction reasons, admin actions, audit logs, and release or expiry timestamps.
- Support, privacy, deletion, appeal, and legal inquiry correspondence needed to verify and respond to the request.
4. What Omezy does not keep by default
Omezy does not continuously record video chats by default, does not keep full video streams by default, and does not require government ID documents for normal chat access. Text chat is processed to deliver messages and may appear only in limited operational logs, safety buffers, reports, or moderation evidence as described above.
5. Automatic deletion after 30 days
Records covered by this policy are automatically deleted after 30 days from active storage. Expired sessions, completed deletion records, old reports, moderation evidence, audit logs, reputation events, violation counters, released restrictions, and daily chat or video log files are included in the scheduled cleanup.
Active bans or restrictions needed to enforce current access controls may remain while active. Once released or expired, their supporting records follow the 30-day deletion cycle. Backup deletion may take additional time according to backup rotation, but deleted records are not restored to active systems unless required for security, continuity, or legal reasons.
6. User notice
Omezy may notify affected users about legal requests when legally allowed and when notice would not create a safety risk, interfere with an investigation, violate a court order, or conflict with applicable law.
